PTFE lining is a fluoropolymer lining applied to the inside of a metal pipe, fitting, or valve body. It is sandwiched between the process fluid and metal wall, preventing corrosive media from coming in contact with the underlying metal (steel or stainless steel).
PTFE handles the widest temperature range but is harder to mould into complex shapes. FEP and PFA melt-process more easily, which suits fittings with tighter bends, though both carry a slightly lower maximum service temperature than PTFE.
