PTFE Lining Process

The PTFE tube most frequently has a larger diameter than the pipe and, because it is a thermoset material, will shrink back to its original size or as much as the metal pipe will allow when tension is released, creating a tight, immovable fit. By heating and compressing the PTFE against the pipe flange face, the extra length of the PTFE rod that is permitted at either end is flared. To expand pipe length or to other metal surfaces, metallic bolts are then compressed to form a tight seal between two flared sides. For extremely corrosive and dangerous applications, SS 304 PTFE Lined Pipes are the best choice.
